Little Moon (poem)
I wish upon a wave
to be with you, Mother
to hold you in human form
For I am lonely
and you feel so far
As I travel inward
The path is cruel and dangerous
Magical yet maddening with paradox
I must sacrifice all I know
to emerge an orphan
Descending
through
deep
wells
of being
I am with you there
Suffering life and death in one
A labor of love reborn into moonlight
Fed by your river breast
A poem inspired by a beautiful Persian story of Cinderella, Mah Pishooni. I’m grateful for how deeply this ancient tale speaks to both shadow and soul.
